You seem to think a confrontation between an armed felon and the police
should be some kind of competition? That the cops should be required to
give a psychopath a "sporting chance" to kill them before they can fire

Exactly! Seems to me the thugs should start looking into high powered
sniper rifles, even things up a bit :)
